With funding from the New Mexico Local News Fund, KTAL Radio has joined a growing cohort of local news initiatives around the state. Many of them are trying to serve small communities with no local news outlets by publishing regular stories on line reflecting community concerns and covered by local writers. Tamara Rosenberg launched Columbus New Mexico News, “where the village gets its news,” when she moved to this tiny border town. She joined Nan Rubin on the phone to talk about this new venture, covering stories from the border, and her perspective on how statewide issues and media affect a village like Columbus.
