They talked about Orville “Buddy” Wanzer and The Devil's Mistress, a 1965 film he directed that was shot in Las Cruces and will be shown on Saturday, December 5th at the Rio Grande Theatre. Proceeds from the film will support Smith’s work-in-progress documentary about Wanzer and his relevance to southern New Mexico film culture.
Nan Rubin interviews Las Cruces City Counselor Kasandra Gandara about the county wide Resilience Leaders program which brings together concerned community members to address causes and prevention of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and Family Trauma. His film, Neither Wolf nor Dog, will be showing at the The Fountain Theatre November 22 - 28. It was shot on the Lakota Reservation and contains insight into the challenges of working relationships between Lakota (notably a very old man who fought during D-Day and has a lot to say) and white U.S. folks (particularly a writer the old man contacts to help tell his story).

 Nan Rubin interviews Cynthia Flynn, newly-appointed Senior Librarian for Quality of Life at Thomas Branigan Library, about the role and duties of an outreach librarian. Libraries are no longer just for books, they now serve all manner of digital research, periodicals, games, film, media, makerspaces, and just plain reading. Nan and Cynthia also discuss the issue of requests to remove materials some people object to and the process the Branigan goes through to resolve these requests.
