Recently, the School Board of Las Cruces unanimously approved the new “Policy JBC: Equity and Excellence for All Students" as the district's guide to implement school programs aimed at creating an ‘equitable learning environment’ throughout the system. The policy is a response in part to the 2018 landmark court decision Yazzie/Martinez vs. New Mexico which declared that at-risk children in New Mexico must receive the same level of education as their peers.
