Can the United States avoid war with Russia?
Should we avoid war with Russia? Does a nation that spends so much on weaponry that it has built the strongest military force in the history of mankind have a moral obligation to act when lesser armies are slaughtering innocent people in another nation? Our guest today is multi-talented, multi-dimensional Deidra Schaub, sharing some of her experience and considerations in the realms of "Liminal Space". Liminal space - the space, place and/or time of transition from the known and familiar, to a situation or circumstance that may be unfamiliar, unknown, or uncertain. A fun and insightful exploration of curiosity, creativity, and certainty - as well as humility, expectations, and assumptions. The conversation touches on being comfortable with the discomfort of liminal space and constant change as inherent elements of our lives and our universe.
Lisa Lucca talks with journalist David-Elijah Nahmod about writing, monster movies, and his interviews with fascinating people.. Today’s guest is my cousin, Karen Berger, an award-winning editor of graphic novels. At DC Comics for 34 years, she ultimately became executive editor for DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, where she helped expand the genre of mainstream comics, diverging from tales of super heroes in favor of complex, challenging stories, from gonzo journalism to positive depictions of gay characters, from fairy tales to global pandemics. Berger also pushed for creators to keep the rights to their work instead of surrendering their characters and ideas to the publisher. Berger won the Comic Buyer’s Guide Award for best editor every year from 1997–2005 and the prestigious Eisner Award three times in the early 1990s. Since 2019, Berger has been the founder and editor of Berger Books, an imprint of creator-owned comics, published by Dark Horse Comics.
