Join The LAB every Saturday at noon for The LAB Radio Show hosted by DJ Kelz and MandoMania on the Las Cruces Community Radio 101.5 KTAL-LP FM. We are live for new shows every other weekend featuring Arts & Entertainment, Health & Wellness, an interview for Life & Learning, a featured local artist, and great music!
Armando Arellano is a native Las Crucean who has been in the area for 25 years. He is an NMSU alumni with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. He has spent the last two years in the entertainment industry focusing on film and music. As an active member of the local community, Armando collaborates with musicians, artists, and nonprofits. Part of his mission is supporting emerging artists (musicians, visual artists, performing arts) through initiatives such as Art Fight (live art, live music, art auction), MandoTown (event planning/coordination), bands (Work in Progress, 2 Hours Too Late, Swingtown’s Finest), and The LAB (radio show and drum workshops).
Armando’s affiliation with KTAL began in 2017 when he became a member of the Program Advisory Committee (PAC). He is now a regular host of The LAB Radio Hour biweekly and his events calendar is featured on every show. Armando enjoys being a part of KTAL because he believes it helps bring the community together and supports local artists, while creating diversity in local radio programming. Supporting local musicians and artists through community radio, social media, and events is a component of Armando’s outreach philosophy. The cornerstone of this philosophy is self-discovery through creative expression.

Hi everyone! My name is Laura Larson, and I'm the board engineer for occasionally I'll also jump on the mic when DJ Kelz is busy. I graduated from NMSU in 2017 with a Bachelor's in animation and visual effects, and returned to DACC for a certification in audio production. I was born and raised just down the road in El Paso, TX, but now my goal is to work in the film industry here in New Mexico. My love of music started in elementary school when I joined the band playing the French horn, and I stuck with it through to college as part of the Pride band, over 10 years experience as a horn player! Now I play as a hobby, and try to incorporate music into my freelance work, a brass instrument can create some pretty cool sound effects for animations and songs. I hope to stay on as an engineer and possibly take more of an on-air role in the future, not to mention being lots of fun.
