Welcome to the new KTAL-LP newsletter! Every other month, you'll get an update on the goings-on at Radio Qué Tal.
The Roadrunner Revue
The Roadrunner Revue was the first major fundraiser for KTAL-LP Radio and was a huge success. Performances by local talent, and especially talent from our own programmers, were the highlight of the evening.
A huge thank you to all who attended, participated, contributed, volunteered and worked so hard to make this event so special. Plans have already begun for next year’s event!

The KTAL Census Project
Because of the census, New Mexico receives eight billion dollars for roads, Medicaid, school lunches, and many other services, based on our population. But we lose a lot of money because with our very rural population and many unincorporated communities, New Mexico is a notoriously hard state to count.
Census Day is April 1, and KTAL has received a contract from Dona Ana County to produce messages in English and Spanish informing people about the census and how important it is for everyone to be counted. Thanks to some excellent volunteers, including Raul Esparza Jr., Marisol Diaz, Shirley Baca and Marty Racine, the first batch of spots will begin airing in February.
When it comes to the census, we all count!
Many thanks to the Rio Grande Theatre for helping to make the Roadrunner Revue a success! Click on the image to see upcoming events.
Volunteers
Volunteers are the grease for the gears that keep Las Cruces Community Radio running smoothly. Our non-profit radio station’s Board of Directors, program hosts, engineers and those who perform other vital roles are all volunteers. There is no paid staff.
If you’ve ever wanted to work in radio and desire to play a role in keeping the Voice of the Mesilla Valley on the air and providing listeners with quality programming, please consider volunteering at KTAL. Radio experience is welcome but not necessary.
Our two advisory boards – the Community Advisory Board and Program Advisory Committee -- are always looking for dedicated volunteers who would like to share their ideas and expertise with KTAL to improve local programming.
For more information about how to get involved, please visit: https://www.lccommunityradio.org/contact-us.html.
Become a Member!
If you’re not already, please consider becoming a member. A sustaining membership of $10 or $20 per month helps the station budget its funds to pay rent, utilities, licensing fees and other essentials. You also can make a yearly donation to keep Radio Qué Tal on the air.

Our Mission
KTAL-LP’s mission is to operate a public radio station that entertains, informs, challenges, inspires and engages our listeners through an eclectic mix of musical, cultural, educational and community affairs programming.
The vision of Las Cruces Community Radio is for a truly local radio station that reflects the diversity of views, news, and talent in our community. Our goal is to have as much local programming as possible, including talk and call-in shows, public and community affairs, local artists, and a wide range of voices and perspectives.
