MEDIUM RARE WITH BROTHER B
Tuesday 8-9pm Sunday 5-6pm rebroadcast
I grew up on the East Coast, and my father was a photographer. The family home had a darkroom where my dad would develop his film and print photos in total darkness. He would sit me on a tall metal stool and ask me how my day went. We listened to jazz on his Wollensak reel-to-reel, which had all the lights covered over, while in the dark. With all other stimuli removed, you could hear every nuance and inflection in the musicians' intent. It was a great way to learn to really listen to music. I grew very fond of music, with a special nod to jazz.
Later in life, I mixed sound for a popular local jazz band and collected LPs, keeping my "love of music" going my whole life.
After working a career in I.T., I was desert-bound and wound up in Las Cruces. I discovered KTAL-LP and thought, hmmm, maybe I should pitch a music show and let my lifelong music collection be heard.
And here we are! If you're into great musicianship, I highly recommend you tune in! Be there - or be square - Tuesday nights at 8 pm with a rebroadcast on Sundays at 5 pm.
