CORNUCOPIA WITH MARK MIDDAUGH
Friday 7-9pm Tuesday 10-12pm rebroadcast
I moved from Dallas to New Mexico five years ago. Prior to moving, my experiences in the state included working at Chaco Canyon National Historical Park and spending a summer, believe it was 1977, living in Jemez Springs at the Bodhi Mandala Zen Community.
It was during my teenage years that I developed a love for music. I spent hours and hours in my room listening. During those years I found music especially deep. I was always wondering just what those lyrics meant. My favorite rock n' roll group were The Doors. Even as a teenager, I had a broad collection of music...Iggy Pop to Roger Whitaker. After the mid-70's my interest in music waned. No revolution had come to be...no, simply a continuation of the old. Music lost its purpose. Fifteen years later I caught up with music again.
Along with the interest in music came an interest in good sound. When I moved to New Mexico I was able to start an audiophile-quality stereo system for home use. I spend hours, ask my girlfriend, listening to music...auditions for upcoming radio shows.
Besides music? Once the weather cools a bit I enjoy bicycle riding. I raced some years ago and still like to get out and be in-shape.
As far as the radio show, Cornucopia. I like to bring in music, from my collection, that may be new to the listener. Little of what I play will be heard on commercial radio. Believe me, there is no mistake made... Cornucopia appeals to a little finer slice of music listener. I minimize verbalizing on the show. The show generally begins with a short intro piece, of any genre, followed by classic rock. What follows rock will be one of the following: blues, folk, country, cosmic country, jazz, or ambient.
