Frank Holguin, a top local handball player and Regional Director with the U.S. Handball Association, joined Mike and Brian to talk about the sport’s long history, its many forms, and its surprising presence in Las Cruces. He discussed his own journey from competitive player to coach and organizer, and shared details about the upcoming Las Cruces Junior Invitational Handball Tournament on October 18 at Lions Park.
Plus: updates on a busy weekend ahead for Las Cruces sports, including tournaments, rivalry games, and the hiring of new NMSU Athletics Director Joe Fields. Las Cruces native and Centennial High alum Cedric Reynaud joined Mike and Brian to share his remarkable journey—one that took him from a state baseball championship to the brink of paralysis and back to the diamond. After collapsing in 2019, Cedric was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome and told he might never walk again, let alone play baseball. But through faith, perseverance, and a grueling recovery, he returned to the field and eventually played professionally for the Tucson Saguaros—culminating in a Pecos League championship in 2024. Now coaching at his alma mater, Cedric reflects on the highs, the setbacks, and the calling to give back.
In this special extended episode, Mike and Brian sat down with Emma Bunch and Aidan Thomas, standout golfers from New Mexico State University who both competed in the 2024 NCAA Regionals. She’s from Denmark, he’s from northern New Mexico, and together they’ve formed a powerful on- and off-course partnership.

Vasquez discussed the event's impact, logistics, and colorful team traditions (from duct-taped shoes to names like “Mud, Sweat & Cheers”), as well as how the funds raised support mentoring programs for youth in Doña Ana, Luna, and Grant counties.
Longtime NMSU Volleyball Head Coach Mike Jordan joined Mike and Brian for a wide-ranging conversation about his 28 years leading the Aggie program. From taking over a team with just five players to building one of the most consistent winners in NMSU athletics, Jordan has guided the Aggies to 27 consecutive winning seasons and 10 NCAA tournament appearances.
