NM Legislative Special Session: we’ll discuss with State Senator Joe Cervantes, State Representative Joanne Ferrary and Benjamin A. Baker the recent controversy over the “special session” called by the Governor that the Legislature closed in a day without considering most of her agenda. What happened and why? What should have happened? What’s next on those serious issues? Mr. Baker is the Senior Public Safety Advisor for the Governor’s Office. [Please note that the Governor's Office will hold a town hall on this issue Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the Las Cruces Convention Center located at 680 E University Ave.]

What are the issues? How much of what advocates wanted is in the ordinance? How will it change city practices?

Today's conversation with Keith Whelpley and Jack Turney touches on recent political developments in the U.S. and what they mean. We take the opportunity to acknowledge what's happening today, and what's at stake for our future in this unfolding presidential campaign. We explore the stability of our fundamental governmental structures, our individual and collective values, and how it all may shape and be shaped by our culture. We ask if culture is "upstream" of our politics, and whether culture informs politics, and/or inversely, do politics inform culture?
A recent town hall meeting in Las Cruces hosted by the Foundation for Open Government focused on the need for greater transparency at the Legislature during the budget-making process.
There is, perhaps, no process at the Legislature that is more secretive and less transparent than the special session about to begin on Thursday, July 18. Gov. Stories duet, Hallie Balogh & Auttie Grace to talk about their recently published second book in their YA sci-fi Empire series! These two young authors share about their recent graduation and plans for the future - in this world and the one they created in the book series. We’ll be joined by Zeke Rodriguez, a local conservative, to discuss issues and how to talk with each other across the partisan divide.
